About the Organization Behind the Programme

Generating genius is a registered charity and is run by a board of trustees. The CEO is Dr Tony Sewell who is also head of the, Educational Studies, Science, Maths and Information Technology centre at UWI. The Programme co-ordinator is Patrice Simmonds, who is a trainee medical doctor. Our delivery team consists of lecturers and graduate students based at UWI Mona.




This boys only programme uses University residential summer schools as a key plank to giving these students from age 12 a pathway to academic success. We concentrate on hands-on Science, examples of our course themes:
• The Building and programming of robots
• Forensic science
• Constructing FM radios from electronic junk
• Tissue culture – biotechnology
• Green Technology
• Making fruit flavoured yogurts


• There is a link in supporting the local community.
• We use company workers as judges on our panels
and they also give career and inspirational talks.
• Provide a real cadre of new professionals into
the finance and science /medical sector
• Prepare students for college and the workforce
• Improve access to higher education for inner-city kids
• A new generation of business leaders able to think outside of the box
